Games

In the following section, you will discover a variety of traditional games that can be incorporated into coaching sessions. These games, which originate from diverse cultures, promote teamwork, skill development, and cultural exchange among participants.

  • Kho Kho: An Indian sport that emphasises teamwork, strategy, and agility, Kho Kho is played between two teams who take turns chasing and evading each other on a rectangular field.
  • Kar: A traditional Bulgarian game, laying scheme is drawn with chalk. Players are divided in two equal teams, each team has their own field.
    Each Team Leader has to coordinate his team so that one of them manages to enter in the triangle corner in the field of the other one and to shout “Kar” going through the aisles.
  • Kabaddi: Originating from India, Kabaddi is a contact team sport that requires players to invade the opposing team’s territory, tag opponents, and return to their own half without being tackled.
  • Hopscotch: A classic game played worldwide, hopscotch challenges players to hop, jump, or skip through a series of squares drawn on the ground, often while tossing a small object into the correct square.
  • Đi Cà Kheo (Stilt-Walking): A popular Vietnamese game, Đi Cà Kheo involves walking on stilts and racing other players, enhancing balance and coordination.
  • Fly Little Crow: A Bulgarian game, Fly Little Crow encourages teamwork as players work together to keep a ball off the ground using only their feet.
  • Marbles: A traditional game played in Macedonia but also globally, marbles involves shooting small glass or clay spheres at a target, honing players’ precision and concentration.
  • Isikuti Dance: A traditional Kenyan dance, the Isikuti Dance allows participants to celebrate their cultural heritage while building a sense of community and fostering rhythm and coordination.
  • Mazza e Pivezo: An Italian game, Mazza e Pivezo challenges players to hit a spinning top with a stick, developing hand-eye coordination and timing.
  • Chơi Nhảy Vòng (Ring Jumping): Another Vietnamese game, Chơi Nhảy Vòng involves players jumping through a spinning hoop, improving agility and timing. This game is to show participants’ strengths, skills which are also needed for being the leaders. Participants have to jump through the rattan ring hang on the bamboo tree without touching or dropping it off. From this game, they should learn to find the best solution with limited/personal resources.
  • Tamburello: An Italian game resembling tennis, Tamburello is played with a small ball and a tambourine-shaped racquet, promoting teamwork, coordination, and physical fitness.
